Binance Exec Caught on Camera Pleading With Prison Guard
Detained Cryptocurrency Exchange CEO Begs for Help
Footage Reveals Desperate Plea to Guard
In newly released court footage, Samuel Bankman-Fried, the former CEO of cryptocurrency exchange Binance, is seen desperately pleading with a prison guard for assistance.
"Why are you doing this to me?" Bankman-Fried asks the guard, visibly distressed.
The footage, which was obtained by Fox Business, shows Bankman-Fried sitting in a chair, wearing a white mask and orange jumpsuit.
Bankman-Fried was arrested in December 2022 and charged with multiple counts of fraud and conspiracy related to the collapse of FTX, another cryptocurrency exchange he founded.
He has pleaded not guilty to the charges and is currently being held in custody.
The release of the footage has sparked questions about the conditions of Bankman-Fried's detention and the treatment he is receiving while in custody.
Attorneys for Bankman-Fried have filed a motion to have him released on bail, arguing that he is not a flight risk and that he should be allowed to await trial outside of custody.
A hearing on the motion is scheduled for later this month.
