Over $900 Million Stolen in Hacks and Scams

According to the latest report from bug bounty platform Immunefi, the cryptocurrency industry has experienced a significant surge in hacks and frauds in recent times. The report indicates a staggering 112% increase compared to the same period last year.

Immunefi notes that the two largest exploits of the year were the Ronin Network hack, which resulted in the theft of $625 million, and the Wormhole hack, which led to the loss of $326 million. These incidents highlight the growing sophistication and determination of malicious actors targeting the crypto sector.

In addition to these major exploits, the report reveals that over $900 million has been lost to hacks and fraud in the past year alone. In the second quarter of 2023, alone, hackers stole $572 million, indicating the continued threat to the industry.

The alarming increase in crypto hacks and frauds underscores the need for enhanced security measures and vigilance within the industry.
